From the Southern Ontario Beach Hunt Committee:

For the last several weeks our lives and our world has changed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Many places have been closed to the public to enforce the social distancing rules and to ultimately “flatten the curve”. Recently the City of Hamilton announced that many places including the parks and recreation areas would remain closed until May 25th, 2020, with the possibility of this closure being extended even further. Unfortunately, our venue for the hunt: Fifty Point Conservation Area is included in the list of closures. Therefore, on behalf of the Southern Ontario Beach Hunt Committee we have decided to postpone the scheduled hunt (May 23rd & 24th) for this year.

We have arranged for an alternate date of September 19th & 20th of this year, which will also be dependent on the course of this pandemic.

Your safety is our priority and we will follow the recommendations as provided by the Provincial and Federal Health guidelines. We will keep you informed with any further updates as they are made available to us.

New Early Bird date:  August 9, 2020

New late fee deadline:  September 9, 2020

If you have already pre-paid for your registration for this event, please let Janet Whitelaw (jmlbw1007@gmail.com) know if you CANNOT attend on the September dates and a refund will be arranged.

For those that have purchased tickets for the 50/50 draw, which was to be held on the first day of the hunt (May 23rd), discussions are underway on how to proceed with this. We may still hold the draw on May 23rd to raise funds to help cover the expenses we have already incurred while planning for the original event. Watch for announcements on this subject.

We are certain that this pandemic will be over quickly enough if we all work together. Then we can start to plan the 2021 Southern Ontario Beach Hunt, which we are certain will be better than ever.
